Spring defeat stings for gallant Bohemians

The football spring has begun in earnest, although the temperature may not have shown it.

Right after the minute’s silence, in memory of the former manager of Bohemians Lukáš Přibyl, Jablonec had a first chance to score. Jarolím was the man who went alone straight in on goal but decided to pass the ball to his teammate rather than shoot and Pavel Lukáš intercepted as the move broke down. However, Jablonec didn’t need to wait much longer for a goal. In the 11th minute Kopic went down the right wing and passed the ball to Piták who slotted into an open goal.

The kangaroos could have answered after 15 minutes, when Abraham had a shot which was deflected behind by the defender of Jablonec. The next chance came from Bartek, but Špit had his shot under control as well as a later pass to Hartig.

It was in the 33rd minute when something unique for Czech football occurred. The whole stadium stood up during the prepared act of remembrance by the fans. Even the players stopped playing and with a minute-long applause paid tribute to Lukáš Přibyl again.

The rest of the first half was full of chances on both sides but the defenders and goalkeepers held firm. It was Lafata from Jablonec and Bartek with Hartig from Bohemians. Hartig hit the crossbar.

After one hour of the game, the green and white army finally got what they wanted. Bartek went down the left wing and had a shot which was deflected away from the goalkeeper and ended up right in front of Vyhnal who scored his first goal in the Gambrinus Liga.

Jablonec then had a chance to change the result again. Novák, after Jarolím’s pass had a shot but missed. Lafata then scored after Borek’s mistake in defense, but he wasn’t celebrating for long. The assistant caught him offside. Vyhnal and Kraják had a similar chance but Špit had it well under control.

Then, in the 82nd minute, Kovařík crossed the ball to the penalty box and Lafata, the attacker who never misses from these positions, was there in the right place at the right time and scored. The score was 2:1 for Jablonec. A repost could have come from Vyhnal immediately after that, when he had a shot after a cross from Budínský. Another chance fell to debutant Orolín, but didn’t surprise Špit again. Bohemians continued the pressure on the Jablonec’s goal but it all proved to be of no avail as the match ended 2-1 to Jablonec.
