The draw secured a place in top division for next season

Bohemians - Viktoria Plzeň 0:0

The draw secured a place in top division for next season

Nobody would expect much after first three matches of spring. Kangaroos lost all of them and got to the last position. Bohemians replaced a head coach and Klusáček took over the team. They started winning and the team with a new management got above their opponents in relegation fights. But then the team got out of breath and lost two consecutive matches. The green and whites did not give up and started winning again. The situation before this match was clear. Win would mean a save place in top division for next season, any other result would depend on other results. The opponent this time was Viktoria Plzeň, this year’s vice-champion.

And Kangaroos didn’t start well. Viktorians were pushing a lot and didn’t let Bohemians to touch the ball. They appeared in many chances but Berkovec, as for most of this season, was sure and saved them.

Berkovec’s performance helped Bohemians to get back into the track and the proportion of the possession leveled. However, most of the Bohemians’ chances were not dangerous.

The second half was better from the home team point of view. Lietava’s substitution brought the so needed movement in front from N’Dekre and Bohemians could benefit from it. N’Dekre got in front of the keeper, he tried to lob him but without success. The ball went over the goal.

The punishment could have come just a minute later. Brabec wasn’t fast enough and Tecl went around him. He went on the right side, had a chance to pass the ball to Petržela who was running alone but Tecl decided to shoot and his shot ended well above the goal.

The game got back to the slower pace, but this time it was Bohemians who were more active. They gave little space for Viktoria and they tried to secure the goalless result.

The match started to break around 80th minute. Cseh lost a ball and Berkovec didn’t assess the situation right and didn’t go for the ball. Kolář got to the ball and his long shot fortunately went wide.

The match ended goalless. But nobody celebrated. It didn’t mean anything. Everyone was waiting for the final whistle in the other match played in Liberec, where Sigma was playing. Those were two longest minutes ever for most of the Bohemians fans. Olomouc was pushing and appeared in many chances in last minutes but none of them ended in a goal and when the final result of 1:1 was announced in Ďolíček, the celebrations could have begun. Supporters ran into the field, the hooligans lighted up the green flares and the whole stadium was celebrating the first league “citizenship”. Supporters were throwing players to the air while shouting their names, there was a green beer served at the main square and the celebrations continued until the early morning hours. The league is saved!
