The new season began with a tight loss with Sparta

Prague derby between Bohemians and Sparta opened a new season of the top league of Czech Republic, newly renamed as Synot Liga.

Sparta came to Ďolíček in the best possible form. They went through to another round of Champions League play off and beat the vice champion of past season Viktoria Pilsen with a score of 3:0 in the Czech Super Cup.

The new head coach sent 11 players into the game who were ready to face this challenge and they entered the match full of enthusiasm and full of energy.

Bohemians defended well throughout the first minutes and Sparta’s sovereignty disappeared. Přikryl went with a solo against home keeper Havránek, but the home player came as the winner from this fight.

Kangaroos came with a reply immediately. Costa lost a ball in the penalty box, Jindřišek sent a ball to Engelmann but his shot was deflected by the defender Švejdík. The deflected ball found Moravec who shot from a close distance, his try was boxed away by the keeper, and ball went to Mikuš who took another shot from a penalty spot and hit the crossbar.

The main event of the first half came in 26th minute. Nešpor was looking for a long cross ball but Brabec defended well. He got a ball, sent a pass back to the keeper, but keeper, instead of kicking it away, tried some of his football skills which did not pay off. He lost a ball and Nešpor got an easy task to do.

This was a cold shower for the green and white team. The possession was on Sparta side and no bigger chance came out.

Kangaroos started the second half with an active approach but the chance from a 56th minute took them down again. First of all, it was Nešpor who could have scored but Šmíd was behind the keeper and saved the situation. The cross ball came to Lafata, he headed the ball to Hušbauer and he hit the target. 2:0 for Sparta.

Ďolíček’s typical atmosphere disappeared, but only for a minute. Rada took a free kick and Šmíd showed a great header and headed the ball in.
Just a minute later the same situation occurred again but this time the keeper was on his spot.
It was thrilling 5 minutes because Sparta added a hit to a post as well.

The game slowed down and it was more about few-minute sequences, when one team defended and the other attacked but without a bigger try.
The time went by and Kangaroos couldn’t create any chance which would change the score. Sparta secured the defensive lines. Bohemians did not add any other goal and they lost to Sparta with the slightest possible difference, 2:1. But they could have left the field with their heads up.
