Kangaroos win over Budějovice

Bohemians’ excellent start to the campaign continued as the Kangaroos moved back to the sixth position at the league table.

An intense afternoon at Ďolíček was settled by three different goal scorers. Firstly, it was the Colombian star Mosquera, then it was Jindřišek and Jakub Rada.

České Budějovice started the quicker with Machovec taking a long shot towards the goal. The defenders didn’t dive in and the ball deflected to Volešák. He turned around and took a shot. The ball went just wide of the left post.

The Kangaroos were on the front foot inside the opening couple of minutes but could not create a greater chance. The first came after 30 minutes of play, when Mosquera passed the ball to Mikuš who tried to finish it but straight in the middle of the goal where the keeper was prepared.

The defensive wall built by the away team was too much of the problem for the home team and all the cross balls and passes through the defense line ended immediately.

The home team entered the second half with more accuracy and dangerousness. But everything would develop differently if the substituting Klesa would turn his chance into the goal. Brabec made a mistake in the defense and left Škoda to send a cross ball. Klesa ran towards the goal and headed the ball but it was just wide.

Bohemians took the possession and there was no shortage of confidence and belief on display, with players all over the pitch happy to get on the ball and look to influence the proceedings. However, the only missing were the goals. The good example was Mikuš’ try when he shot again in the middle of the goal.

The head coach Pivarnik clearly knew what his team is missing and sent David Bartek into play. Firstly he sent a good pass to Mikuš who sent the ball behind the back of the keeper but the ball stopped on the goal line and Lengyel saved a situation. Few seconds later it was Jindřišek who found Mosquera with a cross ball. Mosquera jumped up in the air, high above all the defending players, and headed the ball into the net.

Just five minutes more was needed for scoring a second goal. Mikuš went into the penalty area and when he was about to shoot, Kalod took him down and the referee pointed at the penalty spot. Pepa Jindřišek, as usually, executed the penalty kick and the crowd was back out of their seats.

And the goal celebrations continued as Rada added a third piece into the collection. And it was Bartek again who was present in the goal try. He ran on the right side, sent a cross ball to find Jakub Rada left alone in front of the goal who had enough time to finish it with a header.

Bohemians were able to navigate the final few minutes with minimal fuss to bring another three points into the league table.
