Three goals bring a match to happy end

Not an optimistic expectation for Bohemians was awaiting. Last time Kangaroos scored home against Ostrava was in 2003 and the last recorded win even in 2002. But this year’s performance of Banik increased the chance of success. Ostrava occupied the last position in a league table and their current form is close to zero.

Both teams entered the match with a very careful game. No chances on any side for first twenty minutes and the ball was moving from one team to another without a longer streak of passes. The first bigger chance came and it was immediately a goal. Hubínek on the left side sent a great pass through the defending line to find Acosta who won face to face with the keeper and scored.

Červenka appeared in a goal chance seconds later who was reaching for the ball after a corner kick. His try went, however, over the bar. Bohemians got back to the ball, Jirásek sent a cross ball to Čížek who tried to hit it from a similar position as Acosta but he wasn’t as successful as his teammate and the keeper saved his shot.

It was five minutes till halftime when Banik. The ball was slowly moving towards the goal and luckily, Jirásek kicked it away. And the pressure by the away team continued. Just two minutes later, the deflected shot by Mišák got to Mondek but Zlámal saved his try. However, the ball was still going to the net and Škerle had to head it away on the goal line.

Ostrava started the second half with one change. Davor Kukec replaced Lásik and appeared in a chance straight away. Croatian technic player sent a pass to Červenka who tried to finish it with his heel but the ball went just wide. It was Bohemians who took the game back on their side. Just five minutes went by and Pauschek won a ball on the outer line and sent a cross ball to Jirásek who missed the target. Čížek was then replaced by Schick who later became the MVP. But before that, it was Ostrava’s Narh who took a shot between Zlámal’s legs, however the ball hit the post.

The immediate counterattack decided the match. Schick took the ball through the right side and sent a ball to the far post behind Pavlenka’s back to make it 2:0. Jindřišek was next who tested the keeper from a free kick but it was Schick who got all the attention again. Firstly, he lengthened the flying ball and put it over and secondly, in 75th minute, when Šírl took a free kick, Schick put the head in and scored another.

Kangaroos were winning 3:0 but Jirásek didn’t have enough. He went around two players and finished it. The goalkeeper was ready and saved his shot. Only 2 minutes were left till the end and Banik wanted to add at least an honorary goal. Their try began at Szotkowski who found Narh and he got to his second unlucky moment at the match and hit the other post. Ostrava didn’t give up and they finalized the pressure with a goal. Dostál got the ball at the penalty area and scored with a shot on the back post. Zlámal reached for his shot but he didn’t deflect it far enough. Bohemians, thanks to goals by Acosta and Schick, take three points and leave Banik 8 points behind.
